Today I bring you – I know it’s late I’m sorry, I’ve just found it hard to get my engine going lately – the first report on an interview with a time traveler!
This interview was conducted last month, after he had reached out to the blog through an email. At the time, this was all pretty new so I only had some basic questions for him.
Richard Newman claims he arrived here from 1997 during August, 2018. He states that he dropped out of school and was taking a train back to Winona to return home to find work. However, he instead found himself disembarking in 2018.
I asked how he believed he’d come to be here, to which he said, “no idea, probably some voodoo destiny stuff […] I honestly thought I was being pranked at first”.
No evidence so far really points to “voodoo destiny stuff”, but then, I haven’t really been able to discern any pattern. Maybe all this really is destiny. I know I’d been hoping for something interesting to happen around here.
When asked about his experience in 2018, he stated that while he thought the current social trends in music and healthy food were terrible, he was having a good time. Apparently he made the lucky investment we all wish we or our parents had, and bought Amazon stocks back in the 1990s!
Honestly, even if we never figure out how these people got here, I can’t believe people don’t want to figure out how to send them back, if only so they can go back themselves and make similar choices…
The blog hasn’t received more communications from Richard since this interview, but I sincerely appreciate him taking the time to tap out all these replies for us! I invite any other time travelers or associates of time travelers to reach out and share their story.

I think I lived near a Rick Newman back then… he went off to college. I thought he’d just kind of moved on. I wasn’t close to him. But we played ball together at the park in middle school and he dated one of my friends… If it’s the same guy, that’d be something.

Would you be willing to meet with him to see if it was the same guy? I would love to corroborate his story with someone from 2018!

I’ve had a really hard time wrapping my head around all of this time traveling stuff that’s been going on… but lets say its not all a hoax i’d be really interested as to why they ended up in Winona of all places. How many supposed time travelers even are there?

So far I have received fourish…fivish different accounts with time travelers specifically. I suppose I would say I’ve heard four direct accounts either from those who have interacted with time travelers or who have stated they themselves are time travelers and one direct contact from someone I personally find dubious in their claim.
